Neat Ideas On How To Make A Small Living Room Look And Feel Larger

If you have a small living room, there are lots of neat hacks that would make it feel a little less cramped and a little more open. Here are a few:

Declutter:

The first thing you’d want to do would be to sort out the clutter. Try to figure out the things that are absolutely needed in your living room and get rid of or store those that are not.

Windows:

One of the easiest adjustments you can make would be to work on your windows. Make use of natural lighting. If your living room window receives a lot of daylight, opt for light curtains that allow light to pass through. Alternatively, you could also use blinds. Letting natural light pour into the room would help make a limited living room space feel more open.

Another great window idea would be to use a bay window as another seating area or an extra storage.

Mirrors:

Deceive perception with mirrors. Adding a large mirror to your living room wall will make your limited living room look more spacious. It would also help brighten up the room by reflecting the natural light coming in through your windows.

TV:

Mounting your TV to the wall would remove the need for TV rack

Paint:

Paint your living room with a lighter color palette. A monochromatic, two-tone design works well with natural light, creating a natural illusion of spaciousness.

Go minimalist:

Ultimately, for a more spacious look and feel out of your small living room, minimalism is the way to go. Bulky looking curtains, furniture that is not proportionate to the size of the living room, wild color combinations, and clutter, all contribute to a tight, unappealing living room.

Furniture:

Instead of a full-sized sofa, go for “snugglers” instead. Choose furniture with longer legs to show more of the floor. Also consider allowing a little space between the wall and the sofa. This will create an illusion of a wider room.

If you need more seating, add multifunctional ottomans. Ottomans include storage and are great seating additions.  Bonus: a great way to hide the clutter!
